ZEN Welcomes New Hire

SPOKANE, WA - Zero Emissions Northwest, LLC (ZEN) is proud to announce the addition of Elizabeth Beachland as Director of Operations & Partnerships, effective March 4, 2024, to the company’s growing staff. With over 20 years of non-profit partnership and development, she will work directly under David Funk, president and founder of ZEN, to support the company in facilitating strategic partnerships that have a shared vision surrounding energy conservation and education for the Inland Northwest.
“I am happy to welcome Lizzy on board,” said David. “Her grant-writing and nonprofit experience will help us strategically align with important environmental organizations and support our rural communities when it comes to educating and implementing practical energy solutions for farmers and rural businesses alike.”
ZEN, an energy consulting firm specializing in decarbonizing technologies, delivers energy expertise around renewable and energy efficiency projects and upgrades within Eastern Washington and Idaho. Every ZEN project generates energy savings that strengthens and further invests in Pacific Northwest communities.
In October of last year, ZEN was awarded $500,000 in USDA Technical Assistance Grants, an accomplishment that will help serve rural communities applying for federal grants within Washington and Idaho. The funds will be utilized over a 3-year period to offer the following services to agricultural producers and rural small businesses:
● Education & Grant Writing: ZEN provides comprehensive education about decarbonizing technologies and assists businesses in writing compelling grant applications to secure additional funding.
● Project Development Assistance: ZEN offers expert guidance to help businesses effectively develop and implement sustainable energy projects.
● Independent Energy Modeling: ZEN conducts independent energy modeling to provide businesses with accurate and reliable data to inform their energy strategies.
These services will give rural businesses and farmers the opportunity to win additional USDA grants through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) for eligible projects, including:
● Renewable Energy: Anaerobic digesters, geothermal, hydropower, hydrogen, solar, wind, etc.
● Energy Efficiency Improvements: High-efficiency HVAC, doors, windows, insulation, and lighting, replacing inefficient energy-consuming equipment, etc.
